We just finished casting 800 shoes and boots for DSW Shoes. They were cast in crystal clear resin and had clear beads added, which represented air bubbles, kind of like champagne. The shoes are then sent to a local sign company where they are turned into chandeliers for the entrances of each store. We need to go out and get a shot of a complete chandelier, so these are just some shots of the shoes at the shop.
Above are assorted images of the shoes. We did three styles, a short heel, a stiletto, and a boot. The last image shows a detail of the “air bubbles”.

These are shots of an exhibit that TORK did last year at Glacier Ridge Metro Park. These pieces are for the alternative energy exhibit. We did displays for solar and wind power. Yea, we know it’s a bit late getting these images up, but…well…we didn’t have the blog at the time we did this project. So, here they are better late than never, aye? Hope you dig ‘em.
Solar Energy Display
There is a solar panel inside the unit, sunlight is directed down through the light tube in the resin sun, this in turn powers the little gizmos inside. People, especially kids, can come up and press the buttons to get each gizmo to whir and spin.
This happens to be one of Mark’s more ambitious metal projects. He hand made each piece for this display. In this display, kids can come up, grab the handle on the back, and spin the turbine. A digital display then shows your wind speed and power, and the turbine wind speed. Fun stuff.

Well, hello one and all. I bet you’ve all been wondering, what have the guys at TORK been up to? The lack of activity here on our blog doesn’t mean that we’re not busy at the shop. There is always something happening, and many of the projects we work on, well, they don’t get documented until after completion and installation. We’ll try and remedy that, and attempt to keep you updated more often…cool?
