The boys have been in Canada this past week, setting up Savage Gardens in it’s newest home for a few months, The Royal Botanical Gardens in Ontario CA. Photos will follow as soon as they hit terra firma here in Columbus. Peep our Facebook page for some links to info and fun about the exhibit.

What!? Two posts in one day…outrageous! Yes, you are not hallucinating, dreaming, or both, we have indeed posted twice in one day. This post is all about the current Savage Gardens exhibit located in San Antonio, Texas at the San Antonio Botanical Gardens. You may have seen the posts from the install on our Facebook page <(Go there and ‘Like’ us to stay even more connected to what is a foot here at TORK). The guys were down in the Texas heat last week setting up for this weekend’s opening. The following photos are of the sculptures in their new home for the next 5 months, as well as the amazing hand-painted banners from our friends at Mural Works here in Columbus, Ohio. Enjoy!

Well, friends, despite the lack of posts, we have indeed, as always, been busy. Recently we had the pleasure of working with Honda of America in creating and pouring urethane molds for their new manufacturing and testing facility in Celaya, Guanajuato, Mexico. The urethane molds we made, are being used to cast concrete bumps and European cobble replicas for various testing procedures. As I type this, concrete is being poured and then set into the specially prepared sections of the facility. The following photos document the making of masters to the final concrete slabs made from the molds. Enjoy!

It was super cool to have had the opportunity to work with such a large company, and the people we interacted with in regards to the job, especially their designer, Jon, were amazingly helpful and super down to earth.

Hey there, family and friends. Hope all is well with you this second month of the new year. We just finished installing 3 steel & resin panels for the Embassy Suites here in Columbus. The panels are made out of 4 sizes of steel rings, and a select few have colored resin inside,ranging from clear to opaque. These things were crazy heavy, just under approximately 400lbs each, and yes, all three of us moved them by hand….with much grunting, muscle straining, and creaking of bones. Enjoy the photos of the install and post install.

Well, well, friends at long, last we have a new post, and our first of 2013.
Featured in this post, is The Pearl, a new Cameron Mitchell restaurant in Columbus’ Short North Arts District. TORK worked with a local design firm to make Cameron’s vision a reality. The Pearl is a restaurant, tavern, and oyster bar, focusing on made-from-scratch food.
The metal work that TORK fabricated, consisted of door frames, a butcher block table base, bakers rack, restroom implements (shelves, toilet tissue holders, mirror frames, etc.), a “green house”, faux windows, dining table bases, and liquor cabinet doors. Lots of metal, and if we mill it over long enough, our bodies may just have a retroactive hernia thinking about all of the metal we had to sling by hand. Good times. Enjoy the images we have below.

We may have been a bit premature with our statement on our last post about the last post being the last post and not being the last post. So please accept our most humble apology.
This is an update to let our fantastic friends and stalkers know that we added two pages of information. One gives a bit of info regarding our Casting Division. the other specifically deals with Ball-Jointed Dolls, of which we’ve had a surge of inquiries recently. So there!

Well, here we are. Yes, it’s been 6 months since our last post, and as usual, we have continued to be busy. Lazy with the blog and Facebook page, but hard working in the shop here. What’s been happening you ask?
We’ve been making picture frames for a local artists, Kim and Katherine McClelland at Tree of Life Artworks. Amazing work, and even more than that, amazing people. The frames we cast for them are available at the art fair/shows they attend. Check their website for dates so you can go meet them and peep their stuff in person.
We did additional work for Hyde Park Restaurant up near Detroit, Michigan. Images will follow at some point. Yep, we’re bad like that. 🙂
We did some interior pieces (light fixtures, window grids, and patio railings) for the newest Matt The Miller in Carmel, Indiana. Here are a few images from the install of the window grids:

Mark, did a private commission for an artist and client in Sandusky, Ohio. Mark didn’t design the piece, he just worked with the artist to bring her vision to life. The piece was fabricated out of aluminum. We called it the “Roller-Coaster”…think Cedar Point. See images below:
We’re also currently working on oodles of interior piece for the new Cameron Mitchell restaurant, The Pearl, in the Short North. Images will follow.
We’ve also started doing some metal/wood combination pieces. The images that follow are of a coffee table Mark designed and built. Pretty sweet really. It’s steel and rough cut walnut, planed, sanded, and sealed.
There is also a wood/metal meeting table we’re working on for a country club here in Columbus, and another private commission for a dining room table and benches. Images will follow as those come to fruition.
